A-1 (199)(19)
In 1993, an interest group met to discuss ways to increase the effectiveness of paraprofessionals working with students who are visually impaired. Although it is difficult to document this trend, the general consensus was that the number of assistants in this role has been increasing. The group wanted to try to ensure that the educational assitance being provided by paraprofessionals reflects best practice, both in terms of how their roles are defined and the kinds of support provided to students.
